교수연구실은 작가에게 매우 특별한 장소이다. 지금도 그 장소를 떠올리면, 온몸에 소름이 돋을 정도로 생생한 감각이 되살아난다. 이 소름은 두려움이 아닌, 경이로움과 감각의 진동에서 비롯된 것이다.

2016년부터 시작된 작가의 작품 연구는 이 교수연구실에서 이루어졌다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 매주 작업을 해오고, 그에 대한 피드백을 받는 실기 수업은 작가에게 중요한 리듬이자 훈련의 시간이었다. 혹독한 지적을 받을 때도 있었지만, 그 시간들은 창작의 에너지를 북돋는 원천이었다.

칭찬을 좋아한 작가는 스승님을 작품으로 놀라게 하고 싶은 마음이 늘 있었다. 매주 작업을 해가며 기대감으로 가득했던 그 시간들은, 지금도 기억 속에서 특별한 기억으로 남아 있다.

교수연구실은 그런 기억의 연장선에 있는 작품이다. 스승님과 작품을 보여드리던 모니터가 등장하는 이 작업은, 여전히 작가에게 공부와 사유의 장소이자 자신을 고쳐나갔던 깊은 장소로 남아 있다.

The Professor's Office

The professor’s office is a deeply meaningful place for the artist. Even now, recalling that space brings chills—not from fear, but from awe and the vivid return of sensation.

The artist’s creative research, which began in 2016, was largely shaped within this very room. Weekly studio sessions required students to bring new work and receive feedback—a demanding but formative ritual. Though the critiques were often intense, they became a driving force behind the artist’s growth.

The artist, who loved praise, always dreamed of surprising their mentor through their work. Those weekly cycles of creation and presentation were filled with anticipation and became treasured memories over time.

The Professor’s Office is a reflection of that experience. Featuring the professor and the monitor used to present works, the piece stands as a tribute to a space that continues to be a site of thought, reflection, and personal transformation.
