회화는 저마다 고유한 힘을 그려내고 있다. 특히 직접적인 운동성을 드러낼 수 있는 ‘시간-회화’에서는 두 가지 방식으로 리듬과 힘이 표현된다고 볼 수 있다. 하나는 운동과 속도를 통해 형성되는 리듬이며, 다른 하나는 고갱과 고흐 같은 색채주의자들이 구축한 색의 질서를 통한 리듬이다. 이는 뉴턴의 광학적 색채학이 아닌, 괴테의 색채학에서 출발한 개념으로, 각기 독립된 색들이 어우러지며 특정한 질서와 흐름을 형성하는 방식이라 할 수 있다.

발코니에서는 이러한 색의 질서와 색의 리듬을 탐구한 작품이다. 작품을 구성하는 형상들은 발코니라는 하나의 장소 안에서 서로 짝을 이루며 증인의 역할을 하듯 함께 존재하고 있으며, 이를 통해 시원한 느낌이 든다. 색채를 매개로 한 질서와 조화가 장소를 형성하는 중요한 요소로 작용하며, 이를 통해 회화가 가진 리듬과 힘을 다시금 사유할 수 있도록 한다.

Each painting possesses its own unique force. In particular, in "time-painting," which directly reveals movement, rhythm and force can be expressed in two distinct ways. One is the rhythm created through movement and speed, while the other emerges from the order of colors, as seen in the works of colorists like Gauguin and Van Gogh. This concept does not stem from Newton’s optical color theory but rather from Goethe’s theory of colors, where independent hues blend together to establish a distinct order and flow.

On the Balcony is a work that explores this order and rhythm of color. The figures within the composition exist together on a single balcony, forming pairs and serving as witnesses to each other’s presence, creating a refreshing atmosphere. Here, color becomes the key element in structuring order and harmony within a space. Through this, the painting invites contemplation on the rhythm and energy inherent in visual expression.
